I am a newbie runner. As someone who hated running my whole life and is not very athletic, I am amazed I now can say "I love to run". A year and a half ago, I got on a treadmill and ran. I didn't love it, but wanted to challenge myself. With the encouragement of my runner boyfriend, who had completed a half marathon for the first time the year before, I thought I'd like a good "personal project". I did the couch to 5K plan. I love schedules and plans, so this was perfect for me. It was hard for me, but at the time I was slightly frustrated with my job, and this was a great outlet and personal challenge to work on.
I also realized I love races. I love to have a race on the calendar as something to work towards. There's also nothing like the energy and excitement of running in a race!
